No wedding is the same because they are unique to the couple getting married. There are many things a couple can do to make their wedding more personal. On November 10th, 2016, Garrett and Ericka did just that. The first decision they made was to have a small wedding. With the guest list maxing out at 25 people including the bride and groom, they were able to have the small wedding of their dreams.
Their wedding was held at the Four Seasons Resort and Spa in Orlando. The cocktail hour, ceremony, and reception were all held outside; the weather was perfect. Traditionally, the schedule for a wedding involves the ceremony first, then cocktails, and finally the reception. However, Garrett and Ericka had a different plan in mind. They wanted to have the cocktail hour before the ceremony, because there was only 25 people in attendance, it actually worked out well. By having the cocktail hour before, the couple and their guests were able to go straight from the ceremony to the reception. Cocktail hour was held on the lawn in front of the porch area where the reception was later held. To block the lawn off from other hotel guests, Garrett and Ericka rented vintage lounge furniture. It was aesthetically pleasing, as well as functional. The lawn was simply stunning with the furniture in the back, a roaring fire in the center, and elegant market lights strung in the trees.
For the ceremony, they decided that they wanted to do a unity ceremony, but not just any unity ceremony. They wanted to use a plant as their unity ceremony. On the table next to the officiant, a potted plant with no dirt sat on a table. The bride and the groom each had jars of dirt, they poured the dirt in together. Its was a unique spin on the traditional unity ceremony.
After the ceremony it was off to the reception. Garrett and Ericka are both Disney people, and it was important to them that they have small details to represent Disney. On the cake table, there was a small Mickey and Minnie statue, the menu cards showed Mickey and Minnie kissing, and at the sweetheart table, there were Mickey and Minnie wedding caps. While the ceremony took place, a surprise arrived for the guests. Garrett and Ericka had hired a caricature artist to draw for the evening. The guest simply loved having their pictures drawn.
That was not the only surprise awaiting the guests. At just before 9, all of the guests were moved to the restaurant at the top of the resort. Once there, the guests were led to a private balcony. From the balcony the wedding guests were able to have a private seating area to watch Disney’s Magic Kingdom’s fireworks light the night sky.
Garrett and Ericka’s wedding was small, intimate and just what they wanted. It was amazing to be able to share in it with them. We wish them the best for their future.
