Michelle and Mike will be married on March 12, 2016 in a beautiful wedding at the Historic Sydonie Mansion. We are so excited for our first wedding of 2016 and to be a part of the first wedding to take place at the new Mount Dora venue. The logo above was created by the groom, Mike, when asked why the Sandhill Crane, here is what Mike had to say, “The Sandhill Crane is a monogamous species, and once they form a pair bond, they mate for life and stay with their mates year-round.”
Our Bride and Groom met a little over 4 years ago online and have been happily creating memories ever since. The wedding will take place on March 12, 2016 at the gorgeous Sydonie Mansion in Mount Dora. In honor of Dolores Werner, who taught Michelle many life lessons and considered a second mother, the bride has chosen the color purple to represent the presence of her purple angel on this wedding day.
Sydonie Mansion was once said to be the most significant residential structure in all of Florida. Designed by famous architect Grosvenor Atterbury and completed in 1904, it was the winter retreat for James Laughlin, the owner of J&L Steel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Built in the Mediterranean Revival style, it was designed after the Alhambra Castle in Spain, and included sculpted gardens with rare plants from around the world, citrus groves, a dairy farm, power plant and even a bowling alley. The mansion features 11 bathrooms, 13 bedrooms and 13 fireplaces with beautiful handcrafted wooden moldings throughout reflecting an era of craftsmanship difficult to find in modern homes.
The ceremony will take place on the front lawn of the mansion, followed by the cocktail hour in the Spanish Gardens and Courtyard. The party will continue as the couple and their guests dine under the stars on the Front Porch of the venue.
