As fun as wedding planning is, it can sometimes be overwhelming and your #peacocksquad would love to share some tips, best advice and inspiration from some of the best vendors in the wedding industry with our couples. There’s nothing quite as panic inducing for a bride as being unable to find her dream wedding dress. With endless options to choose from, the most overwhelming part of choosing a gown is narrowing down the style that best suits you. So we have turned to the fabulous Erica Trunk, owner and stylist of Solutions Bridal Designer House, to share some important tips and her expertise in the bridal wear industry.
~Tell us a little bit about yourself and your company.
Solutions Bridal has been in business for 15 years and specializes in creating an exemplary experience for each and every customer who walks through the doors. We carry eleven designers in the store and visit Bridal Fashion Week in New York twice a year to see the newest trends and select the gowns we will be carrying each season. We have a range of styles and sizes of dresses so we can find the perfect look for every bride!
I was born and raised in the Orlando area and love contributing to my community. I am a wife and mom of two young boys so getting to do all things girly every day is a welcome treat!
~ What attracts you to the bridal wear business?
I love being part of such a special day in someone’s life. We understand that selecting your bridal gown and the store it comes from is a big decision, which is why our stylists’ goal is to find the perfect dress for each bride and stay in contact with them throughout the process- from the initial sale to alterations and beyond the wedding day. We are here every step of the way to answer questions, alleviate fears, and solve any issues that may come up. Delivering on the bride’s vision for her wedding day is incredibly fulfilling.
~ Where do you get your inspiration? What is your favorite part of your job?
I get my inspiration from hearing all the creative ideas our brides come up with! My favorite part of my job is when you see a bride find “the dress.” The look on their face, the change in body language, and the family’s reaction are all so telling when they’ve found it. I don’t think that will ever get old.
~ Describe your bridal shop style in 3 words.
Intimate, luxurious, and welcoming.
~ What are your specialties? What bridal collections do you carry? Which are the most popular ones?
We specialize in couture wedding gowns made in in the US or Canada. Our collection is rather diverse- we carry Ines Di Santo, Rivini, Reem Acra, Erin Cole, Lela Rose, and Bliss by Monique Lhullier, to name a few. Each designer has their specialty but our brides seem to respond to Ines Di Santo’s dresses and the way they hug a woman’s curves.
~ Do you offer wedding gowns preservation? What are your favorite bridal trends?
We do offer wedding gown preservation- it’s a great way to protect your dress long-term if you plan to pass it down to a loved one or resell it in the future.
My favorite bridal trend right now is pearls. They’re a classic feature that was seen on almost every designer’s runway this season. I love how pearls give a timeless look to a dress.
~ How many bridal styling consultations do you book a day? Is there one specific moment from a bridal styling consultation that stands out to you and why?
We only book two bridal appointments at one time to give each client the most intimate experience they can have. When a store is busy and full of people it can be hard to direct the focus where it belongs- on the bride.
Recently we had a dad step up on the stage and dance with his daughter in her dress- it was an incredibly sweet moment.
~ What steps do you take to make sure your client’s experience is as pleasant as possible?
Before we book any appointments we ask a lot of questions to help us learn about the bride and her vision for her wedding and her dress. It allows us to plan ahead and think of some styles that might be just right, or to brainstorm ideas for creative approaches to a more challenging request.
~ What has been your biggest challenge? How did you overcome it?
Learning the bridal business has been my biggest challenge yet. Asking every question that comes into my head and meeting with other industry professionals who can give me insight has been immensely helpful.
~ What makes Solution Bridal Designer House different from any other bridal shop?
There are so many great bridal shops but we stand out with the service we provide. Of course, we have a beautiful selection of dresses but what matters most is how you feel when you’re here. Shopping for a bridal gown is a special occasion that should be celebrated and we do everything we can to make each appointment feel like a celebration.
~If you were a beverage/cocktail drink, what would you be?
I’d be a mimosa- sweet and bubbly 🙂
