Hues of pink, fuschia, purple, orange, and gold dazzled the Cypress Grove Estate House for Mika & Doug’s Indian wedding. Mother Nature pulled out all the stops for this colorful wedding; the air was perfectly crisp and the sunset was beautifully golden.
Bangladesh, I Love You
Both the bride & groom looked smashing on their wedding day! Mika stayed true to her roots by wearing a gold, embellished Saree. Her makeup & accessories added to her bridal look- which was stunning! Doug sported a navy blue suit, paired with a white button-up shirt, and a gold tie. Doug’s cufflinks were a nod to Mika’s hometown of Bangladesh: they displayed Bangladesh’s flag colors and had the words, “I Love You,” written in Bengali.
Mika’s bridesmaids wore matching, custom Lehenga-style Sarees in Lavender, while her maid of honor wore a darker purple. Doug’s groomsmen all wore navy suits with white button-up shirts and gold ties.
Written In Henna
Mika held her Mendi the evening before, during which she had Henna skillfully put on her hand & feet. The intricate designs symbolized joy, beauty, spiritual awakening, offering, and a deep bond between husband & wife.
Mika and Doug’s bond could be seen & felt- especially during their First Look. Upon seeing his soon-to-be-wife for the first time on their wedding day, Doug clasped his hands to his face, gasped, and couldn’t keep himself from crying! It was a moment of pure love, joy, and excitement!
With the First Look behind them, Mika and Doug went their separate ways- only to meet again at the altar. As guests arrived, they were greeted with Mango Lassi, a tasty beverage made of yogurt, water, spices, and fruit.
The ceremony took place under Cypress Grove’s lakeside gazebo, where a Mandap was crafted out of beautiful fabrics, floral, and a glistening chandelier.
Mika walked down the aisle with her brother-in-law and her sister, sheltered by fabric held by her bridesmaids. Even though they had a First Look, Doug couldn’t help himself from shedding a few more happy tears when he saw Mika walking down the aisle. It made us all choke back happy tears of our own!
Once they were pronounced husband & wife, a milk drink garnished with a date was passed among the guests during the signing of the marriage license.
Cocktails At Sunset
As the cocktail hour commenced, a harpist strummed beautiful melodies while guests were treated to yummy drinks and delicious appetizers. Guests were then invited to sign the couple’s guestbook (a shadow box with heart-shaped wooden pieces) and enjoy the lounge area designed with furniture provided by RW Events. Simultaneously, the couple and bridal party were taking photos around the property. With portraits complete, Mika & Doug along with their bridal party, were able to enjoy the cocktail hour and photo booth as they mingled amongst the rest of the guests.
Dining In The Amphitheater
Not that we expected anything less, the reception was absolutely breathtaking! Cypress Grove’s amphitheater was filled with farm tables, vibrant flowers, and personal touches. At the center of it all, was RW Event’s Bubba table, a feasting-size table with its own commanding presence. Not only was ‘Bubba’ a focal point, but it also served as the couple’s head table. Although Bubba is a statement piece, the cake put up some serious competition. It was positioned under a dazzling chandelier and was adorned with cascading sugar flowers.
The guests’ tables were dressed in blush linen and fuschia napkins. Gold Chiavari chairs circled each table, as did gold Belmont chargers. At the center of each table, were votives, gold decor items, and miniature Rickshaws- another nod to Mika’s heritage.
After the guests had taken their seats, Mika & Doug opted to make an epic intro into their reception. As the DJ announced them, Doug carried his beautiful bride on to the dance floor and lead them into their first dance as husband & wife. Of course, we were fighting back tears again!
Drums, Sparklers, And A Getaway Car
The evening flew by with dinner, toasts, cake-cutting, and tons of dancing. A special performance was dedicated to the couple by two of Mika’s bridesmaids. A Dhol player played his drum alongside the DJ. The duo had everyone out on the dance floor!
As the night came to an end, the guests were lined up for a sparkler exit while the couple enjoyed one last dance, just the two of them. After making their way through the sparkler exit, a red carpet was waiting to lead the couple to their luxury “getaway car.”
Mika & Doug’s wedding was the perfect way to close out our 2018 wedding season! Between the beautiful venue, incredible guests, amazing weather, and delicious food- it was a wedding for the books. We absolutely love how everything came together and we can truthfully say it was picture-perfect. This wedding was a true testament of Mika & Doug’s love and we were honored to have witnessed their union.
Congratulations Mika & Doug! May your marriage be blessed with love, joy, and adventure for all the years to come! xoxo #peacocksquad
