No two weddings are never alike (at least not on our watch). We can tell you that every couple we meet sincerely wants an epic affair in which their unique style will stand out and be remember for ever!! Some people get hung up on tradition and forget to make it personal. On October 15th, 2017, we helped an amazing couple take their walk down the aisle to their Best Day Ever!! Devon and Jacob were a sweet and fun loving couple to work with. They made sure to add their unique edgy style to their wedding at the Cypress Grove Estate House. Every detail was thought of and looked at with their own filters in mind. In true Autumn Fashion, burgundy and Ivory were chosen as the color pallet, with pumpkins and all.
In their words, their styles are “punk rock” and “grunge.” Honestly, with hearing how she described her own style, we half expected her to come out in a black princess style dress. We were all mesmerized as she stroll down the aisle in a beautiful white dress with a sweetheart neckline that complemented her unique style and look. Her dark red hair was styled in a updo with a 20s themed beaded hair piece that matched wonderfully with the pearl necklace she wore. She has several tattoos that adorn her collarbone and shoulders, each representing her unique interests, the works were pieced together. Roses and skulls in memory of her late father, a Fleur-de-lis centered on her chest, and cobwebs that tie the pieces together beautifully. With the way that her tattoos framed her chest and shoulders, it made it appear as though they are supposed to be part of her dress.
Our lovely bride is not the biggest fan of flowers, because of that, she decided that her personal florals and those of her bridesmaids would instead be bouquets of lollipops. Red and white classic round styled lollipops were wrapped together with gold and burgundy ribbons to make their bouquets and boutonnieres for the groom and his groomsmen. Such a sweet treat.
“Exhale love and inhale power,” that is the quote that devon lives her life by. As her and Jacob said their vows, you could see her do just that. The way in which they looked at each other, you could see how much they truly love each other. Their smiles and laughter were infectious. Each breath they took, they took as one and they fed each other power and confidence as they made their
vows. They embodied the quote to its fullest.
The Cypress rove Estate House has a marvelous gazebo in the back yard with a beautiful nature’s backdrop that couples
can take advantage of and tie in their favorite season elements. This is where Devon and Jacob’s ceremony took place. A simple white drapery tied back with
loose and flowing floral arrangements with stunning burgundy carnations standing out from the greenery and white of the bouvardias created the perfect romantic look for their ceremony. After the ceremony the flower arrangements were moved to adorned their sweetheart table along with metallic colored Mr. and Mrs. carved pumpkins tying in an autumn romantic feel.
Cocktail hour was a fun affair for all the guests. It was held on the back lawn of the Estate. Lawn games, such as corn hole, were displayed for the guest entertainment. While these things seem normal for an outdoor wedding, the idea of having a Bounce House completed their fun and outgoing personalities. Make no mistake, it was well used that night. Even by the bride and groom. Strung between two trees is where the guest found their seating cards. Devon and Jacob traded the traditional guest book and pen in for a polaroid camera and scrapbook. It was a fun way to capture the evening.
The couple’s reception was equally as unique. Their table centerpieces consisted of bowls filled with sand, marbles and personalized sparkles, guests would later use them to light up the couple’s grand exit. The burgundy napkins added a dramatic feel to the table, contrasting the ivory table linens. Small cardboard boxes were set at each guests’ seat with a note thanking them for attending and sweet reminder to fill their box with cookies and donut holes from the dessert table as a party favor. What wedding is complete without a cake. Devon and Jacob chose a three tiered white cake sprinkled with sparkles, thus giving it that stardusted design. At the base of the cake stand was a garland of different greenery lushes giving a romantic look.
One easy way to make a reception unique is with song choices. Devon and Jacob certainly put their own spin on the song choices. The bridal party introduction song was a WWE wrestler theme must. While Devon and Jacob came into Cult of Personality by Living Color. Billy Idol serenaded the lovely couple as they danced their first dance to “Just the Way you Are.” For the final dance song, we took a trip back to the 90’s with “ Get Jiggy With It,” by Will Smith.
Big white weddings are amazing and stunning, but they are not for everyone. A wedding should showcase the personality of the couple. We were happy to be a part of Devon and Jacob’s wedding and bring their vision to life.
