“Doctor Who” meets the cosmos in this intimate wedding for Carly & Andy. Hues of blue, silver, ivory, and green decorated the Grove Resort Orlando where the couple held their reception. The couple’s ceremony was held on the pier of Lake Austin with a gorgeous sunset as the backdrop. Nature put on an out-of-this-world display for this space-loving duo!
Something old, something new…
Carly wore an ivory, sweetheart-neck gown equipped with flowy layers and delicate details. Her ‘something blue’ was a pair of royal blue shoes, and personal floral complemented her ensemble. Her ‘something old’ was a necklace having belonged to her Great Grandmother. Carly’s mother actually surprised her with this token and made for a really sweet moment! Last but not least, her ‘something borrowed’ was a watch from Andy’s mother.
Carly’s bridesmaids wore floor-length royal blue gowns that tied into the theme of the night. The girls were dressed to the “nines,” as were the gentleman!
Andy sported a classic black tuxedo with a white button-up shirt. He paired his tux with a royal blue bow-tie, space-themed cufflinks, and black shoes. His groomsmen looked equally dapper in their black tuxedos, bowties, royal blue vests, and black shoes.
As the bride and her ladies were getting ready in their matching blue robes, Carly gifted them each with a lovely earrings & necklace set- even the two flower girls got in on the fun! The time spent primping & preening was full of fun and laughter- the perfect way to start the day’s festivities!
Across sand and Space
When it came to ‘first looks,’ Carly & Andy opted to leave the much anticipated moment for the altar. Instead, Carly and her dad had a First Look- which was completely adorable! Definitely a “daddy’s little girl” moment.
The pier on Lake Austin boasted sunset goals for this couple’s ceremony. Sealed with a kiss and a sand ceremony, Carly & Andy were wed! The two flower girls were stars in their own right, smiling all the way down the aisle as they tossed their flower petals.
Meet Me At The Space Bar
After the “I do’s,” guests were invited to the Grove Resort’s Hammock Cove for cocktail hour. Party-goers were able to kick off their shoes and walk in the sand with a cocktail in their hands! For the cocktail hour, there was a mix of high and low cocktail tables dressed in green linens, used so that guests had a place to rest their drinks if they wanted to take a stroll. All the while, Carly & Andy were posing for portraits around the resort. Thankfully, they wrapped up their photos before Mother Nature produced a brief rain shower. Gotta’ love Florida!
An Out-of-this-World Reception
It was as if the stars aligned for Carly & Andy’s reception! Held in the Orange Blossom Ballroom, the couple’s reception was simple yet elegant and stayed true to their style. Their love for “Doctor Who” and outer space played out in fun details! Their table names were creative; the sweetheart table was named after the all-important Tardis! A few other DIY details were included, among them being the centerpieces which were super fun!
The tables were dressed in textured ivory linens, silver charger plates, blue Lamour napkins in a vertical wrap around the chargers. The sweetheart table and the cake table were dressed in a navy sequined linen to accent the guests’ tables. To highlight the sweetheart table, even more, personalized Gobo lighting was illuminated on the whole with their monogram.
To match the couple’s ‘space-theme with a dash of “Doctor Who”,’ Couture Cakes by Lia crafted a four-tier masterpiece. Paying attention to every detail (as usual), Lia’s cake was airbrushed with navy blue accents and clusters of silver & gold dragees. On top of all that (pun intended), the cake topper was a hit! It added a little bit of fun to this dazzling cake.
Carly & Andy went through all the wedding formalities and danced the night away with their closest friends and family. At the end of the evening, the guests were invited to take with them little bottles of mixed sand from the couple’s sand ceremony. It was a nod to taking a little piece of the couple with them!
