Our Jack Daniels 40th Birthday celebration was the perfect combination for a great party. It took me a while to figure out the perfect theme for my husband’s 40th and finally decided on the Jack Daniels themed party. So I started googling and pinning ideas. I created a design deck which had ideas for all categories of a party from Stationery, Linens, Floral and Décor to the food, this is included as part of our full planning and design package. I had a vision in my head now I just needed the right people to make it all happen. I immediately started reaching out to some of my “Friendors” to make my vision a reality.
I had reserved one of the halls in Baldwin Park but the standard tables and chairs weren’t going to cut it. We needed a wow factor! I started first with the design of the space and came across the whiskey barrel tables from Orlando Wedding and Party Rentals, these were perfect for our whiskey themed party which we paired with the Mahogany Chiavari Chairs. Originally I had thought to go with the Black and White theme of the Jack Daniels but Jennifer Welsh of Over the Top Linens had something else in mind. When I shared my vision with her she immediately suggested us pairing the black linens on the tables with the Chocolate Crushed Linens on the Tall Cocktail Tables. Let me tell you, this just added that touch of elegance to the party without it being too formal. The florals were something I know I wouldn’t have to put too much thought into as I was working with Lee Forrest. The recycled Jack Daniels bottles, Mason Jars, lanterns, Candles, driftwood, hay and wooden crates were displayed along with assorted wild flowers, daisies, sunflowers and roses. I was absolutely blown away when Lee and his team arrived, it seemed like there was an infinite amount of props and floral coming in. When everything was set I was in awe of how it all came together, even after doing this for over a decade I was still in shock over how it all just flowed and carried through my vision.
After all this planning there was no way to not capture all the amazing details that went into planning and executing the design of this event. I ran into Magnafoto at a recent show I knew I had to have this for the party, I am always looking for unique ideas and a Magna Photo is definitely on the list. Magnafoto takes the image and prints it on a magnet for your guests to keep. Ben even customized the frame to fit the theme of the party, the backdrop was a custom step and repeat also themed to match the stationery, designed by Dogwood Blossom Stationery. At the end of the might they provide you with a CD of all the fun photos and then they send you a video recap of the event.
Speaking of Dogwood Blossom Stationery. .. for those of you that don’t know who Denise is, you need to look her up. Denise designed and made our wedding invitations and our guests are still talking about them. Once the invites were sent out the calls started coming. Everyone was in awe at how amazing these invites were. The day of stationery was also nothing short of perfect. We had framed quotes throughout the party and customized labels for all the food and drinks.
My favorite part of the evening was the food. 4 Rivers (Matt’s favorite) catered the event and my mother and I baked all the appetizers and desserts, which of course went with the theme. All the desserts with the exception of 2-3 were all homemade Jack Daniels themed desserts, we had Whiskey Chocolate Mousse, Jack and Coke Cupcakes, Whiskey Caramels, Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce and Whiskey Truffles just to name a few.
The guestbook was an engraved bottle of Gentlemen Jack set on a Whiskey Barrel for all the guests to sign. I also had mason jar mugs and custom koozies made just for the event.
Now Matt knew he was having a party but had no clue what to expect, I told him we were having the party at the local bowling alley at the mall. He knew me better than that and I was like a giddy school girl in the weeks leading up to the party. I was so excited to see his reaction and it was priceless. He was in awe at the attention to detail and how everything just flowed. I think we nailed it!
